Livetream Fials L Robb Does It Again
The sugariness and innocent Carrie
Kickoff of all, this prove is not based on SITC HBO show. This serial is based off of the novels written by Candace Bushnell. So all those people whining that this is a different Carrie and that the bear witness got it all wrong, well, honestly, HBO got it wrong in the beginning place. So quit whining. And people complaining that immature Carrie's face is all incorrect? Aye, considering the show is going to find another girl that looks EXACTLY similar SJP. Seriously? And this show is on the CW. It's not going to be the same as a show on HBO.
All this nonsense from die-hard SITC fans aside, this prove is pretty adorable. This is about Carrie before she became the Carrie we all know and love. Earlier the boys, heartbreak and living life in the urban center. This Carrie is yet young and just learning about life and is just trying to get through high schoolhouse. Overall, this show is fun and lighthearted and brings back some nostalgia for the '80's. It's well acted, the wearing apparel are great and the relationships are relatable.

LOVE AnnaSophia
Watched the airplane pilot final night out of marvel when I saw that the wonderful AnnaSophia Robb was starring as the young Carrie. I liked it.
I'yard from New York, raised in Brooklyn, and when I was a teenager I started taking the subway into the City (Manhattan) on weekends, going to movies, matinees of Broadway/Off-Broadway plays, restaurants, stores, etc., and the exposure to such a huge, unlimited-opportunities place made me fall in honey with it immediately. So I tin can relate to the way the testify depicts the young Carrie'south blithesome reactions to discovering this vast and infinitely seductive new earth.
AnnaSophia is an incredible thespian; she's elevated everything I've seen her in by her mere presence and she most definitely does the same with this project. Her enthusiasm is contagious and I'll definitely keep watching but for her alone.
(PS: I've decided to not think of the show as a prequel to Sex activity and the City - and it IS Sexual practice AND the City, not Sex IN the City - but rather to meet it every bit a separate character for the near part; that way all the comparisons to SJP are avoided and I can but relish information technology for the charming offer information technology looks like it's going to exist.)

NOT a new Television set series I will automatically write off
Two negative reviews to i positive. Time to check in. I had an odd schizophrenic feeling (intrigued by the romance, but put off by the neurotic adult female stuff) about Parker's Carrie and never really got into it. And then I was biased going into Diaries.
The pilot played twice tonight dorsum to back and I started a recording on the first hour not certain if it was a ii-hour pilot or an firsthand repeat. I had reception bug and so bailed out and was going to abandon my interest but just watched the second playing in real time as long equally information technology was at that place. I was absorbed almost immediately.
For one thing, I think AnnaSophia is cute as the dickens as well as a compelling actor having just seen her in Bridge to Tarabitha. But beyond that, I idea Diaries was even truer to the Sexual activity in the City theme than the original, if that makes any sense. There'southward something well-nigh the innocence of an origin back story that's more interesting than the ongoing serial of contrived situations that all seem the aforementioned from week to calendar week. The acting in general is easy and realistic without all the jargon and cultural quirks of much of today's Tv set.
Prime fourth dimension tv set dramas and situation comedies more often than not tend to all have the same smell to me like dumpsters and garbage trucks have no matter what people throw abroad. Diaries seems fresh to me. I may well lose involvement somewhere into the series, but I am going to put this on my recording schedule and look forward to a new addition to my core viewing listing.

This is a CW bear witness
You demand to understand that this testify is not a SATC prequel, information technology's a CW show. It doesn't feel like SATC and it certainly doesn't have the essence of HBO.
People should end lament about information technology not existence SATC, cause it's non. Then, don't look SATC'south humor, don't look SATC's plot and stories, and over all, don'due south expect SATC's characters. I don't know how erstwhile people who judge this show are, but why the heck are you watching it if yous're over 30? This show is not for SATC'due south fans, it'south for teenagers, and y'all shouldn't guess this co-ordinate to your feelings. And don't go me wrong, I dearest SATC, that'due south why I'grand not even thinking of comparing these two.
Equally for the actual show, it is a pleasant teen show, with beautiful people and amazing clothes. Information technology's non entirely based on Carrie's life and the fact that information technology takes identify during the 80s is charming.
Watch it if you like shows like Gossip Girl and 90210.
*CW and HBO are networks

Generally bland high schoolhouse drama
The testify begins in 1984. Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) is a 16 year old high school pupil in Castlebury, Connecticut. Her dad (Matt Letscher) is left alone with her and her lilliputian sister Dorrit (Stefania Owen) after the death of her mother. Sebastian (Austin Butler) is the new pretty boy with the troubled past. Her best friends Maggie (Katie Findlay) and Walt Reynolds (Brendan Dooling) are dating except she's sleeping with an older man and he's gay. Her other friends are the smart Mouse (Ellen Wong) and nemesis-plow-friend Donna LaDonna (Chloe Bridges). She tries to have a life in Manhattan with an internship at a police force office which she quits for one at Interview magazine for her flaky boss Larissa (Freema Agyeman). In the second year, she meets wild Samantha Jones (Lindsey Gort).
This show received lots of rut for not being a strict prequel to 'Sex and the Urban center'. The tone is definitely a run-of-the-mill high schoolhouse drama. Information technology'southward pretty tame and unimpressive. I don't really care if information technology doesn't connect all the dots with SatC. Still if the name isn't there, this is a very bland testify. ASR is a very impressive young actress doing a solid job. Katie Findlay could be the next breakout star. She has a neat story at the end of the start season. In fact, that was the just high point of the show. The rest is a passable affair.

Boring
Sarah Jessica Parker recently commented that this bear witness was 'odd'. She was existence polite. What she meant to say is that it is downright boring. Information technology has no depth whatever, and no point. The characters in my opinion are tiresome and lifeless, and I concord with previous comments that obviously fans of SATC volition be watching this and it is then disappointing when they alter so many details of Carrie's life in this prove. The piffling girl who plays her sis is a bad, bad actress, and her friends simply aren't believable in their supporting roles. I really don't see this show going anywhere and I really hope it gets canceled and they put something decent in it's place.

Doesn't gel with SATC - a bit painful for SATC fans
Warning: Spoilers
No matter how well intentioned "Carrie Diaries" is, things just practise non gel with Sex and the City. I don't think SATC fans will like this series.
Major miscasting: First of all Anna Sophia Robb'southward facial features are too unlike from Sarah Jessica Parker - her circular eyes and heart shaped face make her completely unimaginable in the role of a young Carrie. At that place must have been a immature actress more than similar to SJP.
Background inconsistencies: The story suffers in that the family unit background isn't right for the character of Carrie Bradshaw. I know SATC hardly showed whatever of Carrie'due south family but what they have now just isn't right. A sullen younger sister is so incorrect - Carrie never mentioned a sister in the whole SATC. Should have been an only child. Her begetter also seems too upper center class for Carrie's maverick persona.
Kudos to the product for creating an 80s Manhattan - can't be that piece of cake. The friends are mildly interesting, the slut, the gay guy etc. bring to mind an before Samantha and Stanford. Her dearest involvement Austin Butler isn't that cute.
Overall information technology's a series that shouldn't have been made.

It has potential!!!
I think the pilot bear witness is a great start and the music makes it practiced as well. I know that other viewers don't believe that this can be a Sex & the City, but it really does have potential and I strongly think that it'due south gonna make it!! I'grand very excited to sentinel the next episode and and then on.... The characters are beautiful and the music is good for the fourth dimension the era that it's in. The beginning of the show tells how everything starts and where everything gets into place. Viewers out there should really give this show a chance to blossom into something bang-up!!! =) As for "Carrie" not really looking like "Carrie" in Sex & the City, it will come later equally she matures into the show and keep in heed that this is when she was younger!! She has to have fourth dimension to go thru "childhood" and bloom into "adulthood" and her features body, mind, and soul will alter throughout!

I suggest skipping this one
I don't even mind that Carrie Bradshaw here breaks canon from Sex and the City, which seems to be what about of the negative reviews proceed and on about. I don't even mind that much that the lead actress looks similar a "Bratz" doll. I could almost even overlook some trite teenager-coming-of- age stuff.
But after a few episodes the bear witness just became painful to picket. The fundamental conflicts in the show are downright trifling and unnecessary. Watching this testify is like listening to some spoiled over-privileged white girl helplessly whine and complain about their nonexistent issues.
The last straw for me was the Thanksgiving episode. I won't spoil it, but basically what happens in that the writers utterly reduced Carrie to having NO mutual sense, just so she can fail and and so whine and complain almost how she failed. Lazy, stupid writing.

goose egg even remotely fourscore's about this show
This is a very weird show, as it is very "footling girly" with the cute vocalisation over, etc. All the same, there are some pretty racy blazon things..which is fine if y'all are older and watching this. But so, if you are going to cater to both young and older audience, then give the states some real nostalgic actuality. Because equally a person who was this age in the 80's, there is zero even remotely fun about watching the bear witness from that viewpoint either. The props are non that authentic, the clothes are non authentic, the phrases are not authentic.. who used the phrase "drama queen" in the fourscore's? That came much afterward. So it isn't even fun to picket for nostalgia. I am a few episodes in, and haven't in one case thought "oh wow, I retrieve that!" The music is okay, only they could choose improve moments with that too.. it just seems like the product coiffure isn't really in touch with this era.. at all. And the show doesn't really seem appropriate for immature girls, so I really don't run into where this is going. Hopefully they effigy information technology out afterwards.

Fun and Fresh
At get-go, I was annoyed because it's non SATC all over again. Then I realized, the SATC moves WERE SATC all over once again and I was soooo tired of SATC over and over and over! This is different. It'southward cute, fresh, surprising and sweet. And it has some actual acting talent (as did SATC, of class!). Information technology also offers a wonderful visual feel (the 80's e'er done) and the scenes feel existent and accurate. Information technology would exist easy just to exercise a tableau of 80's images with no plot and this is non that. I'll keep watching for true entertainment and I'll try to keep my SATC-practiced-know-it-all self serenity (maybe I can soothe her with a cosmo?)

A very interesting evidence (or shall I say, a prequel....)
The first matter I had to signal out afterwards I read some reviews is that y'all probably didn't know near The Carrie Diaries (and its sequel, Summer in the Metropolis) in the bookstores, released past Candice Bushnell about two years ago. Maybe y'all guys are so hammered up with the SATC TV testify than the book, that's why. This thought pb to negative reviews saying Carrie's face became round, Carrie doesn't have a sis, etc. Well, the writer has her ideas and I shall say that her intentions are shown pretty well in this new show.
I watched the pilot when I was resting due to a stomach anguish. The outset affair I noticed was the glimmer of the 1980'south- surprisingly well done. Also, we get to see Manhattan in Carrie's eyes and how wonderful information technology was. I can sympathise nigh characters and to know if this could be my favorite show, I might need to watch more episodes.
Also, I have to say that AnnaSophia is keen to be back on our screens. She definitely grew over the years- from a cute kid to a blossoming actress. Good on her and the swain actors on the show!
I would say this is a lovingly decent sort of show..... we'll see.

Not SAC but huge potential.
OK, I freely admit this is not even close to the original. Nonetheless, this show is cute, engaging and clearly has the potential to become one of my favorites. It is likewise a fleck anticipated, but that is only because we have all seen SAC and know information technology'southward rhthym. In a time with countless reality Television, cop / blow things up shows The Carrie Diaries brings some fresh air with it. I'chiliad eager to see where the writers have usa and to see character growth. To the die hard SAC fans: modify the channel if you're going to selection autonomously every pocket-sized particular. To everyone else: enjoy AnnaSophia Robb'due south cuteness and thoughtful functioning of the at present famous and unforgettable Carrie Bradshaw. BTW, I've given the show a 10 rating because I already feel the haters trying to make their presence known.

Worth watching, but not for die-hard SATC fans
I didn't really want to watch this show, equally I had zilch but bad expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the first episode, and I'll definitely watch the side by side episodes to come up. Equally many have said, the testify isn't really truthful to what we've learned about Carrie in the SATC show, however this show (or the first episode, anyway) was actually quite good. The actors look true to the age they're playing, and the acting was pretty well done. If you're expecting to watch a bear witness that's completely true to the SATC story, this might non be the show for yous. Even so, if y'all're looking for a new testify with all the expected CW criteria, then this show is definitely worth watching.

Just wait for it..
Alarm: Spoilers
I hope some of you lot read the Books outset. I did that in summer 2011 and I remember they adult all the characters for the prove really well. I beloved AnnaSophia equally Carrie I think she's doing a great job. Not simply does she sometimes remind me of Sarah Jessica Parker while acting, you can clearly run into that she is putting a lot into her Office as Carrie. Also Austin Butler is a perfect Sebastian. The evidence has cracking music, I like the editing between the scenes and I just have to mention how incredible well-called the wardrobe of some of the cast is. The stylists are putting every bit much effort in the styling as how we are used to on SATC or Gossip Girl. That Show has a Lifestyle to it and it's worth watching! I merely feel like people are way too busy with comparison how SATC was , that they forget that this 1 is based on the books which just tell a different Life affiliate of Carrie's life. At one point in the second book called " Summertime in the City " Carrie meets Samantha Jones for the first fourth dimension. And and then Miranda. So it all get's connected at a certain time. Therefor people need to relax and just enjoy the pre - story without judging so harsh about the not-similarities to Sex and the City.

I am a 42 year erstwhile intelligent woman and I but adore this serial.. I dear that in that location is no swearing, sex scenes, auto chasing, violence - it is light and a great mood enhancer - I always feel better after watching this program - the eighty's theme is groovy however not very authentic - in proverb this still very enjoyable - it is bully to lookout man something wholesome when nosotros alive in such a dark globe at times.. I promise they go along making this series for many, many years to come. Carries pilus is fantastic and all the acting is very good.. the love connexion between her and Sebastian is also very interesting to sentinel.. he is a very practiced looking lad - all the cast are very good actors and believable.. I really tin't say enough nigh this show.. wish it was on every night

AnnaSophia Robb'south Good, only she can't save this show
Warning: Spoilers
The serial need be canceled, I don't understand why they gave it a second chance. The series is rather pointless at present information technology was mediocre when it kickoff came on. Carrie'southward friends are non interesting enough and I don't like Carrie's little sister, Dorrit. She's obnoxious, and she need to end hating/jealousy of her considering their late mother favorite Carrie. First of all, the storyline are weak, the immature actors in the series acting is mediocre, and the serial was non Gossip Girl-style enough either. I watch the series considering of AnnaSophia Robb was in information technology. AnnaSophia Robb is talented young actress but she should done another show or stick to movies again.

Love this version of Carrie Bradshaw's life.
I have watched the entire series of SATC from the commencement to end including the movies and constitute it to be alright simply completely unrealistic. Therefore I can make an accurate phone call regarding the prequel series The Carrie Diaries. I dearest this testify and recall it is better than the original. At that place seem to be a lot of people complaining about this serial as information technology contradicts the original serial even though as pointed out by other reviewers the prequel is based on the volume. I understand merely as much as anyone that you get attached to characters but people are looking at it the incorrect way. Anybody seems to remember young Carrie Bradshaw should have been born wearing Manolo Blahnik'south. Guess what people don't get-go out every bit the thirty/forty year onetime adults they currently are. The Carrie Diaries is about Carrie developing into the person she was in SATC.
The Carrie Diaries may exist dissimilar from SATC simply all in all it is a great prove. Anna-Sophia Robb does a great job as the atomic number 82 and the supporting cast are likewise really strong. The storyline may be based around teen dramas but estimate what Carrie is a teenager. That really shouldn't be a shock. I will continue to dear this testify as it is making me have a new appreciation for Carrie Bradshaw and besides Samantha Jones. Mayhap I will give the original another go equally now their characters have become more relatable and existent.

Its Watchable, Interesting But Typically Obvious & Way Too Lame
Warning: Spoilers
I honestly believe from seeing it I recollect the pilot itself is quite interesting, It shows how Carrie's life was like in High School & how she was earlier she even turned xxx! But lets be honest & say that their must of being some sort of face lift or motorcar crash to make us believe that this is a young await alike to our well known Carrie from Sex & The Urban center. There's fifty-fifty mention of her having a Family unit? At that place was no mention of her having a dad or even a Gothic sister in Sexual practice & The City! I'll be honest the actress AnnaSophia Robb has a lot of potential merely I believe she can practice improve then this, I liked the other actors too that nosotros're also in the lead roles, but I only felt similar that the eighty's timing was wrong, way over washed & besides prissy for the way all the guys we're shown in the pilot! Where we're the true 80's men's men with the testosterone? Plus information technology was inaccurate & no one wore cloths like that unless your a rich Hollywood star in the lxxx's. Plus this bear witness has really bad influences of pedagogy a younger female teenage generation from 13 to 17 that information technology'due south okay to have sex when your young & information technology's okay to steal dresses if you having a fun fourth dimension doing it. I just didn't intendance what was going on I liked the acting but the background & story was lame & typically obvious. Non perfect but interesting for how it'due south portrayed. I'll exist honest I call back this Carrie will not be as Crude as I thought she would be? Well shes not Crude at all. This version has morals. I was worried at first but this version is very different! Its more kittenish. Its like watching a nickelodeon testify with a scrap of character. I establish it very quirky and mediocre but it worked for me. I am non going to be one of the people watching information technology day in and day out.. Merely people will like it in some mode, but its not an adult show, it is information technology's own show. So problems will arise with the original fans being older and grown out of that generation of age gap. Only to me this isn't for the true fans, there are gimmicks hither and there.. but its not what their really focusing on in this show.
I recollect the fact its on the CW it might do well.. Considering its non a very popular channel. Then information technology might get a chip of attention.. Because this show is a prequel to something well known. But if it wasn't? It wouldn't be getting this much attending.. Hands downwardly. I wouldn't say it volition make up to 6 seasons or even ii movies like they hope?! Just it might brand upwardly to at least 2 Seasons considering of the excitement. I wouldn't say this is film worthy either or at all.. But information technology will requite you happiness in a mode.
But AnnaSophia Robb is no Sarah Jessica Parker hands down. So obviously the inaccurate link to Sexual activity and the Metropolis is downwards a notch but it's following the novel to The Carrie Diaries.. just not all the style. I really recollect that this show is not for the true fans. To me this didn't even seem like a prequel! It was just an excuse to become more marketing.
I gave information technology 3 Stars because information technology's not the prequel that the fans we're asking for, it's not the same to the original prove. I would of gave it five Stars for a stand up alone show if it wasn't a prequel.

charming!
Let me get-go by saying that I was very much looking forward to this show. As a sort-of-fan of some of the CW shows, I was very curious how this would turn out to exist. Unlike Gossip Girl and 90210, for instance, I actually wanted this to be a sincere prove most a girl living outside the city. To quote one of the other reviewers, 'no drama just for the sake of drama'. I've had enough of all that, then I actually wanted this to exist a refreshing show. Patently, I didn't await information technology to be anything like SATC, but I was hoping it would give me the aforementioned kind of satisfied feeling. To be honest, that is exactly what it is. Information technology's refreshing, information technology's honest and information technology's satisfying. I absolutely dear it! Unlike others, I don't really intendance virtually the facts not being completely accurate, I just actually like the look and feel of information technology. The way AnnaSophia shapes her role of Carrie is amazing; innocent, yet curious for what's out there. I'm definitely looking forrad to the residuum of the season!

A round faced Carrie??? Ridiculous!
I can't believe that they cast someone who doesn't resemble the original Carrie Bradshaw and expect die hard sex in the metropolis fans to be happy! To aim a show at teens that originated from an explicit adult women's plan is ridiculous and poor taste! I loved sex in the city but am appalled by this testify! Fashion was large role then if this prove is supposed to be in the 80s why is the fashion wrong! So so wrong! Really, I am not happy with this show and I couldn't intendance less well-nigh the book! The description given in the promo is that Carrie Bradshaw from sex in the metropolis living as a teenager! Actually! A round faced daughter with poor fashion sense is supposed to be Carrie Bradshaw? Once again, I suppose this show is aimed at teens but it is an insult to dethrone the original prove by the concept of the Carrie diaries! Why exercise producers thrash and dethrone fantastic shows past milking it to death and creating pseudo shows that don't work! Aren't at that place writers out there that tin can create story lines that are fresh and entertaining without destroying a not bad evidence in the procedure? I cant believe some of the reviews that like the manner! The style is and then incorrect for the flow and Carrie would not be able to afford what is shown! Even her hair is totally wrong for the eighties! I am certain that most of the reviews are fake because the storyline is horrible and there is no real wit to speak of! Even if this evidence was not a take of sex in the city information technology is non well written and doesn't period as it should! Really, the but people who may like this show are very young females that don't know any ameliorate!

Bad Idea
This testify was not idea out AT ALL. If they are trying to be true to sex and the city Carrie Bradshaw they've failed. Carrie tells united states of america bits and pieces most her childhood in sexual activity and the city and the starting time very obvious mistake they've fabricated on the Carrie diaries is that she is beingness raised by her father and her mother has died...sexual activity and the city Carrie Bradshaw was raised past a unmarried female parent, her father left her and her mother when she was 5. The writers and producers should probably accept done a better chore of either letting us know that this evidence actually has nothing to exercise with sex and the city Carrie, or they should have done ameliorate inquiry.
